Frequently asked questions

1

Which is the best session to trade forex?

It depends on your style, but the most activity concentrates in the London–New York overlap (13:00–16:00 UTC): the two largest financial centres are open together and volatility peaks. If you prefer quiet ranges, the Asian session is calmer.

2

Why does the London–New York overlap matter so much?

Because both markets are open at once: liquidity surges, spreads tighten and moves are cleaner. It is the window intraday traders watch most, and when most US macro data prints.

3

Which pairs should I watch in each session?

In Asia, the yen pairs (USD/JPY, EUR/JPY) and AUD; in London, EUR/USD, GBP/USD and EUR/GBP; in New York, everything tied to the dollar and US data. During the overlap the majors move harder than at any other time.

4

Do the hours adjust for daylight saving?

The forex market opens Sunday 17:00 New York and closes Friday at the same time; the clock is anchored to that real instant, so it respects the DST changes with no math on your part. Session windows are shown in UTC and in your local time.

5

What are the dots under the bars?

They are the day’s economic-calendar events, placed at their real time: red (high impact), amber (medium) and grey (low). A filled dot has already printed; an outline-only dot is still to come. Click any of them to see the currency, the impact and the actual figure versus the forecast.
