Frequently asked questions
1What does the FSI measure?
Market risk appetite on a fear (0) to greed (100) scale, combining six signals: institutional positioning (COT), volatility, VIX, retail sentiment, carry trade, and news pressure.
2How do I read the number?
Five zones: extreme fear, fear, neutral, greed, and extreme greed. The extremes tend to be the most informative — the crowd is usually wrong there. Tap each component’s (i) icon to see its value.
3Is it the same as the stock-market fear & greed index?
The idea is similar, but the FSI is built for forex: it folds in the carry trade, retail forex positioning, and COT data from currency futures, alongside the VIX as a global risk gauge.
4How often does it update?
Every 60 seconds while the market is open. On weekends it freezes with a countdown; the 7-day history stays visible.
5Is it a trading recommendation?
No. It is an informational and educational tool about market sentiment, not a signal or financial advice.
