Frequently asked questions
1How is profit or loss calculated?
From the pip distance between your entry and exit, times the pip value and your lot size, signed by whether it is a buy or a sell.
2Does it include commissions or swaps?
No. This is the gross result of the price move; commissions and swaps depend on your broker.
3How does the result differ between buy and sell?
On a buy you gain if price rises and lose if it falls; on a sell it is the reverse. The calculator flips the sign automatically based on the direction you pick.
4Can I use it to plan risk before entering?
Yes. Put your entry and your stop-loss level as the "exit" to see what you would lose if hit; use your target to see what you would gain. Handy for weighing the risk/reward ratio.
5Why does the result use live quotes?
To convert the pip value to dollars on pairs whose quote currency is not USD. You supply the entry-exit move; the USD conversion uses live reference prices.
